We need a better 1st round pick

oops.

I am okay if you deal the Islanders 1st pick for Nylander. But, did you not also have to include that same pick in your proposed offer for Sergachev?

Not a bad trade ... value wise. Obviously never goes down but not bad. I would make the deal if the team was not in our division. I think the other team would want a more established center back, and not the picks

I would only make the trade because Nylander is relatively cost-controlled which makes it interesting

Ran the draft lottery....sens have picks #4, #5, #21.
Again I would trade:

To Anaheim: Colin White, 21st overall+
To Ottawa: 7th overall pick

4th pick: Lucas Raymond
5th pick: Alexander Holtz
7th pick: Marco Rossi

2020 - 2021 Ottawa Senators Opening Line-up

Brady Tkachuk - Josh Norris - Drake Batherson
Anthony Duclair - Chris Tierney - Connor Brown
Alexander Holtz - Artem Anisimov - Lucas Raymond
Nick Paul - Logan Brown - Filip Chlapik

Thomas Chabot - Nikita Zaitsev
Eric Brannstrom - Mike Reilly
Mark Borowiecki - Artem Zub

*replace Anisimov with Rossi when he's ready after playing in Belleville

Only way I see the leafs trading nylander is if it's for immediate help on the back end. Not a player with loads of potential but let's face it, hasnt excelled to what we all hoped.

Just read that Dreger is saying the Russian Zub will be signing with Ottawa and will likely play as a top 4 shut down. Would certainly change the way we look to configure the Ottawa D.

Exactly, I agree. He looked to be a blue chipper at one time.

if true Zeitzev's days are numbered in OTT, he will either get traded, or get the Alzner treatment. Zub is a RD, shut down Dman, he will most likely play with Chabot and be his Methot.

The Willy for Brannstrom, a 1st & 2nd is a fair trade.

I’m not a fan of Willy, but he’s definitely a top line playmaker, and you guys could really use him. Leafs need picks.

He’s never played a game in the NHL.. sometimes they pan out, often times they don’t.

That trade was rejected, which freed me up to use it again.

I don’t think either team can look at that trade on paper and say it’s not in the right ballpark (value wise). I would not be upset as a Leafs fan nor trolling Sens fans if it happened.

So much of the Sens forward group is dependent on what Logan Brown is and what he'll become in the next 12 months. What would you do:

(A) Look for trade
(B) Have him play top line center to start the year
(C) Start him 2nd line behind Norris or White
(D) Play him until trade deadline 2021 & possibly look to trade then
(E) don't trade at all, just be patient, even if it takes another 12-18 months

Why Sens don't like giving a 3rd deal? (directly from organization)

Dany Heatley asked to be traded 1 year into his extension after getting so much out of Melnyk

Bobby Ryan deal really didn't work out properly

One takeaway for me: Both wingers that had early success and were high draft choices.

E.

At this point in time, the return on a Logan Brown trade would not justify it. Brown's development progress to date hasn't been nearly as fast as hoped - whether that is due to injuries or other reasons. Let Logan Brown compete with Norris, White and others to earn a top 2 center role on the team.
